Death of the iPod?
According to CNN there are voices speculating that this will be the end of the road for the iPod due to the success of the iPhone and iPad, in which both devices are capable of performing the very duties that the iPod was originally created to do, brining it closer to obscurity.
However, the Apple iPod has probably been the only consistently dominant product that Apple has produced since it's introduction in 2001. Is this product still relevant? Ah, yes! Not everyone wants a phone with all the bells and whistles, and not everyone wants to be interrupted while listening to their favorite track by a telemarketer or annoying friend.
I guess this goes without saying, you can't believe everything that you read online, especially if sources aren't made available to back it up.
After all, who wants a simple media player when they can have a phone or tablet-style computer that can do all that and more?
While sales were down from the previous year, Apple still sold 21 million iPods during the first quarter of this fiscal year. Not too shabby.
And what the classic iPod lacks in buzz, it makes up for in storage capacity -- the device is still able to hold way more songs, videos and other media than the iPhone. Read more
